Detailed Imaging for Healthy Eyes
Our investment in leading-edge technology is our investment in your health. We can take detailed images of the eye accurately to within 5 microns.
This level of accuracy allows us to accurately diagnose many eye diseases, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy, when they are in their very early stages. The earlier an eye disease is diagnosed, the more successful treatment often is.
Diagnostic Technology to Monitor for Eye Disease
Our diagnostic imaging devices take digital photos or scans of your eyes to provide high-resolution images of the internal structures, such as your retina (the light-sensitive tissue that lines the inside of your eye), your blood vessels, and the optic nerve head (which sends visual information from the eyes to the brain). We use different devices depending on the data we need.
The iVue OCT system with iWellness is a diagnostic tool that takes detailed scans of your eye and eye structures, including your optic nerve. Using the iVue, we test for vision-threatening eye diseases, such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
The iWellnessExam provides a comprehensive “deep dive” view of your eye health, specifically at your retina (the light-sensitive part of the eye) and ganglion cell complex (where the rod and cone cells reside). Using the iWellness scan, we can detect eye disease months, sometimes years, ahead of what was possible before.
The Eidon Ultra Widefield Camera is a digital retinal camera, also called a fundus camera. This camera takes incredibly high-resolution images of the inside of your eye and can allow your optometrist to see and diagnose eye diseases that affect the optic nerve, retina, and choroid. This diagnostic technique empowers us to make a more informed diagnosis and customized treatment plans.
The iCare tonometer is a non-invasive and gentle tool that provides accurate readings of your internal eye pressure without that uncomfortable “puff of air.”
Increased eye pressure (intraocular pressure) is an early sign of glaucoma, a serious eye disease with no early warning signs, and can lead to vision loss and blindness. A glaucoma screening is an essential part of every eye exam, but it doesn’t need to be painful or scary. That’s why we use the iCare tonometer.
The Oculus Keratograph is a corneal topographer with a built-in keratometer. Together, the topographer and keratographer assist in providing accurate measurements of the corneal curvature, which is necessary for a precise contact lens fit.
It can also measure tear break-up time, the height of the tear meniscus, and the health of the meibomian glands, which are all important tests for determining the cause of dry eye.
